Several teens from the Warrensville Heights Family YMCA recently traveled to Georgia to participate in the Steve Harvey Mentoring Program for Young Men, an immersive leadership and personal development experience hosted by the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation. The program brings together young men from across the country to learn valuable life skills, build confidence and develop meaningful relationships with mentors and peers. Traveling with the teens was Michael Carter, District Executive and Warrensville Heights Family YMCA branch executive.
During the camp, participants engaged in workshops and discussions focused on leadership, education, personal responsibility, goal setting and future career opportunities. The experience is designed to help young men recognize their potential, strengthen their character and gain the tools they need to succeed in school, work and life. As important, our YMCA continues working with the teens who participated in the program once they return from the camp.
The opportunity reflects the YMCA's commitment to youth development and creating pathways for young people to thrive. Through partnerships and community connections, including support from YMCA Board member and Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Board member LaRese Purnell, local youth were able to take part in a life-changing experience that will continue to influence their growth long after camp has ended.
