Why Choose the YMCA?

The YMCA isn’t your typical gym. Not only do our locations offer fitness centers with first-rate amenities, but the Y takes the next step, serving as a family-friendly community center too. Unlike your standard gym, we are a non-profit cause-driven organization, committed to strengthening communities. We achieve this through camps, afterschool programs, substance abuse treatment, and more.

The Garrettsville Family YMCA offers a community garden, group exercise classes, meeting rooms, and more. Interested in becoming a member? Join today

The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program You May Need

As November arrives, it brings National Diabetes Awareness Month, a period for Northeastern Ohio residents to evaluate their vulnerability to prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. The stark reality is that adultswith diabetes tend to have shorter lifespans than those unaffected, and their medical expenses soar to more than double the costs others incur.

Master a Traditional Chinese Marial Art

Praying Mantis Kung Fu (Tanglangquan) is a traditional Chinese martial art known for its efficient hand techniques, coordinated footwork, and practical self-defense principles. Rather than relying on high kicks or brute strength, Praying Mantis emphasizes timing, precision, balance, and whole-body movement.

At the YMCA, Praying Mantis Kung Fu is taught in a safe, non-competitive format that allows students to progress at their own pace while building lifelong skills. Our Praying Mantis Kung Fu program offers a low-impact, beginner-friendly approach to martial arts that improves mobility, coordination, focus, and overall fitness—without the high-impact demands of many modern combat sports.

  • We provide what you need: No uniforms or special equipment required
  • From beginner to expert martial artists welcome
  • Great for youths, teens, adults and families!
