Donor Spotlight: GEON
Tracy Garrison, Chief Executive Officer at GEON Performance Solutions, is no stranger to the YMCA movement. When asked about his personal history with the Y, Tracy stated, “My relationship spans more than 20 years. From supporting youth athletics, volunteer coaching and fundraising, and a brief 3-year appointment serving on the Board of the Franklin Family YMCA in Franklin Tennessee, my hometown.” This past summer, when asked if he would be willing to support the local West Shore Family YMCA, Tracy answered the call.
Tracy shared that, “GEON’s vision is to be essential to our customers, rewarding to our associates, generous to our communities and profitable to our owners. One element of our Core Values is to “Pay It Forward.” Paying It Forward means all of us have an opportunity to make an impact and to support our local communities in a positive way. This philosophy allows all of us to get involved, regardless of our location, to shape thriving local communities.”
GEON did just that for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. Knowing how critical philanthropic dollars are to supporting the mission of the Y, the company graciously dedicated and matched funds raised through their own day of celebration to the West Shore Family YMCA’s annual campaign resulting in a $7,000 contribution!
Through their generosity, the branch met its goal for the year, helping to ensure the Y will be able to continue to provide crucial programs and services to the community. “The mission of the Y to build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all is one we love at GEON,” said Tracy, “We share many views and affirm the community impact the Y has on so many of our neighbors and friends. You fill an important role in the community, and we are proud to support your impact.” In addition to their tremendous monetary support, the THRIVE team from GEON’s headquarters has begun to develop a partnership with the West Shore branch through their volunteer efforts.
At GEON, Tracy said, “the Thrive initiative is a community outreach program where our associates collaborate with community partners and their teams to participate in events and activities to improve quality of life in the community. Having a positive impact in each area we operate is very important to us and a key pillar of our Sustainability mission.” Earlier this month, THRIVE team members helped sort, organize and disinfect the pathways center for childcare at the West Shore branch in preparation for the room renovations, which are now underway.
