August is Make A Will month

August is National Make a Will Month, an ideal time to create or update one of the most important documents you'll ever prepare. Yet despite its importance, more than 70% of American adults do not have a will or trust in place.

No matter your age or the size of your estate, having a will helps ensure your wishes are honored, provides clarity for your loved ones, and offers peace of mind for the future.

As you consider your plans, you may also wish to include a charitable gift to an organization that has made a difference in your life. By naming the YMCA of Greater Cleveland as a beneficiary of part or all of your estate, you can help ensure future generations have access to programs that help young people thrive, improve health and well-being, and strengthen our community. To learn more about creating a lasting legacy, visit our Create Your Legacy webpage.

If you already have a will, National Make a Will Month is a great reminder to review it. Life events such as marriage, the birth of a child or grandchild, retirement, or changes in your financial circumstances may mean it's time to update your plans.

When creating or revising your will, consider working with an experienced estate planning attorney. You can also use reputable online planning tools to help you get started. Taking this important step today can provide lasting security for those you love while creating an enduring impact for the causes that matter most.

If you have already included the YMCA of Greater Cleveland in your estate plans, thank you. We'd be honored to thank you personally.
