Justin Binns, new board chair

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland has elected Justin Binns, President of the Global Architectural Business for The Sherwin-Williams Company, as the new chair of its Board of Directors.

Binns succeeds LaRese Purnell, whose leadership helped guide the YMCA through a period of growth, innovation and community impact. As board chair, Binns will work closely with YMCA leadership and fellow board members to help advance the organization's mission of strengthening spirit, mind and body for all.

A longtime supporter of the YMCA movement, Binns has served on the YMCA of Greater Cleveland Board of Directors and has been a strong advocate for the Y's work throughout Northeast Ohio. At

Sherwin-Williams, he leads a global business that serves professional architects, designers and building owners around the world.

"Justin is a thoughtful, strategic leader who understands both the opportunities and challenges facing our community," said YMCA of Greater Cleveland President and CEO Timothy Hilk. "His professional expertise, commitment to service and passion for the YMCA mission make him exceptionally well-suited to lead our board."

Binns said he is honored to take on the role and help continue the YMCA's work across the region.

"The YMCA has a remarkable history of bringing people together and creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive," Binns said. "I am honored to serve as board chair and work alongside our dedicated volunteers, staff and community partners to ensure the YMCA remains a vital resource for our community."

As board chair, Binns will help guide the YMCA's strategic priorities, including expanding access to programs and services, advancing community well-being and belonging, strengthening youth development initiatives and supporting the organization's long-term growth throughout Greater Cleveland.

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland serves thousands of people each year through its branches, camps, child care centers, youth programs, health and wellness offerings, and Y-Haven behavioral health services.
