Social responsibility means listening to the needs of our communities, responding to challenges and creating opportunities that help people live healthier, more connected and more stable lives. From providing access to programs and essential resources to building partnerships and supporting people through some of life's greatest challenges, we work every day to make a difference across Greater Cleveland.
Our work looks different in every community, but our goal remains the same: to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Meeting People Where They Are
The Y's social responsibility work takes many forms. We respond to the needs we see in our communities and work alongside local partners to create meaningful solutions.
Sometimes people need more than a place to exercise or a program to join. Through Y-Haven, the YMCA provides comprehensive support for people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorder and other challenges as they work toward recovery, stability and independence.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to participate, regardless of their ability to pay. Through financial assistance and need-based programs, we help remove barriers to membership, programs and services.
We help connect people with resources that support their health, safety and well-being, including food programs, educational opportunities, safety education, free community events and other community-based services.
Strong communities are built on relationships. Through social activities, mentorship, volunteer opportunities, community events and programs that bring people together, the Y creates places where people can find connection and belonging.
