YMCA JOINS PLAY, LEARN, SERVE, AND WORK INITIATIVE
The Play, Learn, Serve, and Work Initiative is focused on getting kids to again play outdoors and, through their outdoor exposure, to become engaged in outdoor learning and service projects which, hopefully, will spawn interest in future employment opportunities.
We are excited that Cleveland is a part of the network of cities across the country working to link neighborhood youth with opportunities to engage with public lands as this work is fully aligned with the Y's commitment to delivering lasting, positive personal, and social change.
We look forward to working with the Department of the Interior, their local nonprofit partner, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association, Cleveland Metroparks, and other partners to convene a community-based summit that will bring together our area's vast network of conservation, recreation, stewardship, and education professional to expand opportunities to engage with and care for our local public lands.
Thank you to all who attended the kick-off ceremony of the YMCA joining this exciting new initiative on July 13, 2015. A special thanks to 18th Director of the National Park Service, Jon Jarvis, President of Cleveland Metroparks Board of Park Commissioners, Dan Moore, and Congresswoman, Marcy Kaptur.
