Endowed memorial fund to provide water safety lessons to children at the YMCA
A fund has being established at the Euclid Family YMCA in memory of Kaelin Hampton, 11,
who drowned Aug. 16, 2008 in the lake at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Mantua. The fund will provide water safety and swimming lessons to children at the Euclid and Downtown YMCA branches,
where Kaelin attended summer day camp for the past year.

Recreation Complex takes shape as ballpark opens, construction continues on YMCA
The dramatic new 122-acre recreation complex at SR 611 and Interstate 90 is taking shape with the June 2 opening of a minor league baseball stadium. Next door to the crowds cheering for the new Lake Erie Crushers, construction continues on a new French Creek at Avon YMCA branch, a focal point of the new complex.

2009 Strong Kids Campaign honors volunteers at annual event
The annual volunteer recognition event for the 2009 Strong Kids Campaign, which provides scholarship assistance to those in need in the Northeast Ohio region, took place June 4 in Butler Hall of the Downtown YMCA. It was an evening of celebration and inspiration, including the presentation of a series of volunteer awards for those who have helped the YMCA towards its goal of $611,000. The campaign continues through December 31.

Join other health seekers while you explore the sights and sounds of Downtown Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood and learn interesting historical facts! All are welcome! Meet Richard Karberg: The YMCA of Greater Cleveland’s Own Marathon Man
Would you picture a marathon walk through the desert with a 35 pound bag strapped to you as fun? 67 year old Richard Karberg would.
The Bataan Memorial Death March will take place in New Mexico on March 21, 2010.
It commemorates the transferring of both Filipino and United States soldiers by the Japanese during World War II. Karberg hopes to be there next year.
