What if someone is not following the rules

At the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed and respected. Our shared expectations help ensure the Y remains a place of well-being and belonging for members of all ages and backgrounds.

Most of the time, our community does a great job looking out for one another. Occasionally, a rule may be overlooked unintentionally, and a simple reminder from staff is usually all it takes to keep things on track. However, when individuals repeatedly choose not to follow YMCA policies or disregard our values, we must take steps to protect the positive experience of the broader community. In such cases, continued noncompliance may result in membership revocation.

If you ever notice a situation where rules are not being followed, we ask that you do not intervene directly. Instead, please notify a member of our staff. Our team is trained to address these situations appropriately and in a way that supports the safety, well-being and dignity of everyone involved.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Your partnership helps preserve the welcoming atmosphere that makes the YMCA such a special place. For more details about member expectations, please review the Y’s Code of Conduct on page 6 of the Member Handbook. You can find a link to the handbook at the footer of our website homepage.
