State grant invests in youth leadership

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is honored to have been awarded a two-year grant from the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in support of our Y-Leaders and Youth & Government programs. The grant provides $290,000 in both 2026 and 2027, totaling $580,000, and represents a significant investment in youth leadership, civic engagement and positive development.

These funds are part of a broader statewide initiative that supports a diverse network of community organizations addressing critical needs such as social services, mentorship, workforce development, food assistance and trauma recovery. Being selected among this group reflects strong confidence in the YMCA’s long-standing role as a trusted partner in strengthening communities and supporting young people.

Through Y-Leaders and Youth & Government, the YMCA helps youth develop leadership skills, build confidence and gain a sense of belonging while learning how to engage thoughtfully and responsibly in their communities. These programs create pathways for young people to grow as leaders, advocates and informed citizens—while supporting their overall well-being.

This investment will allow the YMCA to expand access, deepen impact and ensure that more youth across our region have opportunities to learn, lead and thrive. We are grateful for this support and proud to continue advancing programs that empower young people and strengthen the communities we serve.
