people on stage performing

On April 12, 2025, the YMCA of Greater Cleveland's Y-Haven program proudly presented its 26th annual Steps & Stages performance. This powerful and inspiring production, written and performed by Y-Haven residents, brought their personal journeys to sobriety and economic mobility to life. Through the art of storytelling, the residents courageously shared their experiences, offering an emotional and impactful glimpse into their lives.

The play, under the expert direction of the talented Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) staff, skillfully served as an analogy for the residents' struggles and triumphs, illustrating the challenges they face and their determination to overcome them. The exceptional support from CPT helped the residents not only in developing the play’s script, but also in nurturing their growth as actors, building their confidence and giving them a platform to express their voices.

This year’s performance was not just a theatrical production—it was a testament to the resilience of the individuals at Y-Haven who are working hard every day to rebuild their lives. From those who are finding their way to recovery, to others who are pursuing new opportunities in the workforce, the performance celebrated the transformative power of second chances and the importance of community support.

We are incredibly grateful to the Y-Haven residents for their dedication, the staff at CPT for their mentorship, and the sponsors whose generosity made this event possible. As we celebrate the 26th year of Steps & Stages, we look forward to many more performances that continue to highlight the strength and courage of Y-Haven residents as they take steps toward a brighter future.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and contributed to making this night a success!
