YMCA Board of Directors Welcomes Alexander Williams

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Y. Williams to its Board of Directors. A seasoned civic strategist and business leader, Williams brings over 35 years of experience in corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors to the Y’s leadership team.

Williams, a resident of Macedonia, Ohio, is the CEO of Brewer Garrett and the founder of the HEALTHUP Foundation, an organization that for more than two decades promoted health education, financial literacy and community empowerment. Although the foundation has sunset, its legacy lives on through Williams’ ongoing mentorship and volunteer service across Northeast Ohio.

“Alex’s passion for community impact and his strategic approach to organizational sustainability make him a tremendous addition to our board,” said Timothy Hilk, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. “His leadership aligns with our mission to build stronger, healthier communities where everyone belongs and thrives.”

Williams has led initiatives ranging from veteran outreach and life skills workshops to capital planning and infrastructure modernization for schools and healthcare institutions. His work has influenced over $167 million in revenue and operational efficiency improvements for mission-driven organizations. As a YMCA board member, Williams will help guide the organization’s strategic direction, with a particular focus on facilities planning, community well-being, and financial stewardship. He brings deep insight into energy modernization, workforce development, and grassroots engagement.

Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Benedict College and has completed executive training in strategic selling and organizational leadership.
