Restorative Yoga is a calming and deeply relaxing practice that helps you release tension, reduce stress, and renew energy through supported, gentle poses. Using props like bolsters, blocks, and blankets, this class encourages the body and mind to slow down, inviting stillness and recovery in a supportive environment.

At the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Restorative Yoga offers a welcome pause from the hustle of daily life—an opportunity to breathe deeply, let go, and reconnect with yourself.

All of our instructors are highly trained and hold a minimum of 200-hour yoga certification or equivalent discipline-specific credentials, ensuring that every class is led with expertise, safety, and care.

What to Expect in Class

Each class includes a small number of carefully selected yoga poses held for extended periods—usually 5 to 10 minutes—with the body fully supported to encourage total relaxation.

You’ll experience:

  • Deep stretching and gentle opening of the hips, spine, and shoulders
  • Props-based support for total comfort and ease
  • Mindful breathing and guided relaxation A slower pace with minimal transitions
  • A focus on nervous system recovery and stress relief

This class may include soft music, dimmed lighting, and optional mindfulness or meditation components.
