Y-HAVEN: Transitional Housing and Treatment

Y-Haven provides temporary housing and drug and alcohol treatment to adults in Cuyahoga County who are most in need.  Formed in 1993 by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Y-Haven has helped thousands recover from addiction, secure permanent housing, and re-build their lives.  Y-Haven offers healing and hope. ​

We need your help!
The COVID-19 shelter-in-place order has created challenges for us in delivering the treatment and other support our Y-Haven residents need. If you can donate any of the items below, and bring them to one of the locations listed at the end of this post we would be grateful.
  • 200-250 fabric face masks
  • Forehead thermometers 
  • Ipads and/or smartphones including chargers (if possible) for implementation of telehealth. These devices must meet the following specifications: 1. Speaker and microphone; 2. Webcam built-in or USB plug-in; 3. Processor Single Core 1Ghz or higher; 4. RAM 1GB or higher.
Items are needed ASAP and can be dropped off during service hours at the following locations. Upon arrival, please call the number on the front door to notify staff that you have donated items to drop off and a staff person will come out to your car to pick up your donated item.

Y-HAVEN HAS 3 PRIMARY PROGRAMS SERVING UP TO 250 INDIVIDUALS:
  • “Y-Haven Transitional Housing” for men who are homeless,
  • “Rising Hope” Recovery Housing for women and men with Opioid Use Disorder,
  • “Open Door” Prison Re-Entry Housing for women and men.

HOUSING
  • Y-Haven is located at 6001 Woodland Ave, Cleveland, OH 44104, a drug-free facility.
  • Residents live in 2 or 3 person furnished suites each with its own kitchen and bath.
  • Residents cook their own meals and Y-Haven helps with groceries and cooking classes. 
  • Women and men reside on different floors, each floor is staffed 24-7, and there is a security officer always on duty. 
  • Y-Haven staff work with each individual to secure permanent housing when they are ready. 

MEDICAL CARE
Y-Haven’s service partner, Care Alliance Health Center, is located on-site and provides both physical and mental health care, as well as Medication Assisted Treatment in the form of Vivitrol.

EMPLOYMENT
Y-Haven works with everyone who finishes Intensive Outpatient Treatment to find a good job. Most residents work with Y-Haven’s employment partners including: Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Vocational Guidance Services, Ohio Means Jobs and Towards Employment. 

COMMUNITY
  • Y-Haven welcomes everyone: female/male/non-binary, gay/straight/queer, trans/cis/gender non-conforming; every race, ethnicity, culture, and religion; and those with physical and/or mental disabilities.  
  • Y-Haven’s “not-so-secret sauce” is its welcoming community that fosters healthy relationships and recovery. 
  • Residents participate in trauma and wellness groups, sports and recreation programs, cooking, yoga, fatherhood and family programming (through the Centers for Families & Children), BBQs, picnics and arts programming including an annual play in coordination with the Cleveland Public Theatre.   
  • Y-Haven cannot serve those with a sexual oriented criminal offense, a conviction of arson or a conviction of methamphetamine production. 

VETERANS
Y-Haven proudly serves Veterans through its Grant per Diem Transitional Housing and Treatment program (GPD), and employs a Veteran Counselor.

CONTINUING RECOVERY
At Y-Haven once you’re a client, you’re always a client.  Y-Haven has a team of counselors who follow-up with residents once they leave to help them access the support they need to continue their recovery.

  • Silverware, dishes, glasses, pots and pans, television converter boxes, small televisions, canned and non-perishable food, coffee pots, microwaves, NEW hygiene items (deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, soap, etc.), newly cleaned interview clothing (suits, ties, dress shirts and slacks, khakis, etc.)

Quality of Care and the Rights of Clients
The YMCA of Greater Cleveland's (dba Y-Haven) standards of client care meet or exceed Federal and State laws, and regulations, respective clinical practice guidelines, professional standards and accrediting body standards.
The staff is responsible to respect and preserve the rights of those who come for service. The standards for privacy are drawn from several sources including Division of Mentwal Health 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA and the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Y-Haven is committed to maintaining or surpassing industry standards for protection of client information.
