In case you missed our May meeting...

Pam Mazzocco from LEAP (Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential) came to speak about their program. LEAP serves persons with disabilities in eight northeast Ohio counties and promotes self-determination, peer support, self-help and self-advocacy, system advocacy, and equal access to society which leads to empowerment, independence, inclusion, and maximized leadership. The majority of our board members and staff members are persons with disabilities.  The LEAP Center for Personal Assistance - Offers three employment skills training and placement programs for persons with disabilities. Home Health Aide/Personal Assistant training is an employment skills training program for persons interested in working as home health aides, attendants, and personal assistants. The State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA) program is offered to qualified applicants seeking an advanced employment skills training program for persons with disabilities interested in working within the health care field. Dining Assistant Training is offered to persons with disabilities interested in working as certified Dining Assistants. They also have a Community Employment program which provides vocational rehabilitation services in seven counties to assist persons with disabilities in preparing for, obtaining and retaining employment. They also have Disability Education and Advocacy, a Youth Transition program and much more. For more info on these and other programs please CLICK HERE. Or log onto LEAP at http://www.leapinfo.org/Home.asp

B.R.I.D.G.E.S. is working to initiate a Community Mediation Team for the City of Euclid. This team would provide an opportunity for residents who find themselves involved in conflicts to enter into a mediation process to settle their dispute. The service would be offered without charge. The mediation process is based on the premise that what is most effective in building stronger, more peaceful communities is to transform conflict into solutions that build relationships and respect for one another. B.R.I.D.G.E.S. is looking for volunteers who would be willing to be trained as Community Mediators and form team. If you are interested or would like more info or to recommend someone please contact B.R.I.D.G.E.S. by phone at 216-481-3272 or by e-mail at bridgesofneo@live.com
