All fitness levels are welcome into any class. Participants are encouraged to work at their own level. Appropriate shoes are required for all classes. FITNESS AT THE YMCA IS FOR ALL.
Fitness Assessment
A Fitness Assessment gives participants a base line regarding their current physical condition. Areas assessed include heart rate, blood pressure, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition. Retesting is recommended every 12 weeks to help you see your progress.
YMCA Personal Training
Take your training to a higher level! At the YMCA, our personal training program is a great way to customize a workout program in order to reach a higher level of fitness. Whether you’re looking to rev up a stale exercise routine, break out of your fitness plateau or stay motivated and committed to your workout program, our certified trainers will design a program that is individualized and keeps you interested and motivated about reaching your goals.
YMCA Personal Fitness Program
Designed for the novice exerciser, this 12-week, structured exercise program includes your own fitness coach. You and your coach will set personal goals and design strategies to achieve those goals. Exercise is added in small increments to enhance success.
Teen Orientations: 13-17 yrs.
Teens, ages 13-17 years old must complete an orientation and have a parent/guardian sign a waiver before using any equipment. Teens will learn basic technique and fitness center etiquette. Fitness Center ID will be issued upon completion of orientation.
Youth Group Exercise Classes
- Smart Start
Teach your children, ages 3-5 years, about the importance of exercise. This class incorporates balance and hand-eye coordination through game playing and circuit training.
- Healthy Habits, Healthy Kids
For children 9-12 years old who have completed the Healthy Habits, Healthy Kids Orientation. A fitness circuit will be set-up and supervised during this 45 minute open gym.
Group Exercise We offerr a wide variety of classes including ongoing classes that are free with membership as well as fee-based classes that run in conjunction with the branch program schedules. Some of our most popular class offerings include:
- Basic Pilates -
Search no more for the secret to a firm, controlled, stable core. Learn the fundamentals of the Pilates method through the YMCA's own basic mat class. You'll look better, stand taller, and breathe deeper by focusing on precision, control, and alignment of your midsection. Suitable for all levels. Basic Pilates is now FREE to our valued members!
- Advanced Pilates -
This intermediate/advanced Pilates class pushes your Pilates-trained body to reach its ultimate potential. Using various exercise tools, this class challenges you with higher levels of Pilates complexity, intensity, and precision. There is a fee charged for this specialty class, and all participants must have instructor approval to enroll.
- Yoga -
Why is yoga thousands of years old and more popular than ever? Offering you strength, suppleness, energy and peace, yoga will transform your body and enrich your spirit. Come experience the harmony of spirit, mind, and body. A fee is charged for this specialty class. Suitable for all levels.
- Beginner Y-Fusion - This class is designed to create mind/body awareness in correlation to and in space. By working with balance and fluidity with the joints we help to create greater mobility and agility. This is a combination of fundamental yoga asanas(poses/movements) and basic Pilate movements, to enhance inner strength, outer strength and presence in space.
- Cycle Circuit -
High intensity rocking workout with tough cycle intervals interspersed with ball work and weights. Designed for the hard core fitness enthusiast.
- Y Cycle -
This indoor cycling class will take you on a ride through the flat lands to the mountain tops! Come see why it's the hottest workout trend in years. Since you control your own pace and resistance, you can make this workout as easy or as challenging as you desire. Suitable for all levels.
- Simply Step -
Featuring simpler footwork without any intricate choreography, this step class allows you to focus on what really counts --- intensity, not complexity! Suitable for beginning to intermediate steppers.
- Power Sculpt -
Sculpt your body from head to toe using weights, tubing, bands, balls and more. Strengthen and define your muscles, lose fat, and increase your metabolism as you chisel the body of your dreams. Suitable for all levels.
- Power Ball -
This class is designed to perfect balancing skills on an unstable setting. By using the ball to create instability we hope to create stability and balance. Also by using the ball we can build upon movement and create different levels of progression within our body’s awareness. Besides, the ball is more fun than one person should be allowed to have.
- Cardio Kick Camp/ Plyometrics -
This class is formatted for the boot camp enthusiast at heart. By using circuit stations and abrupt stationary movement you test your body’s ability to react with movement. From jumping rope, to one handed pushups, to everything in between. Prepare yourself for an exhilarating workout.
- Cardio Combat -
Ready to fight for the body you desire? Step into the kickboxing ring for the intense workout that knocks out calories with punches and kicks. Feel the power, experience the empowerment! Suitable for all levels.
- Senior Stretch and Strength -
This class will incor-porate use of light weights, balls and bands to improve strength and build lean muscle mass for seniors. It is never too late to increase strength! Class will be gentle, yet challenging. Free for members.
- Senior Cycle - You control your own pace and resistance, so you can make this workout as easy or as challenging as you desire.
- Silver Sneakers -
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Silver Sneakers® Fitness Program helps seniors age happily and keep a positive outlook on life by promoting physical fitness, mental activities and friendship. The program is an innovative exercise plan specifically designed for the unique health and physical needs of Medicare Advantage Plan members.
- Prenatal Exercise -
Keep toned and ready for your delivery in this class especially designed for expectant mothers. Doctor’s approval for participation is required.
Adult Karate
Build strength, mental focus and coordination while learning the practical skills of self-defense. Adaptable to a wide range of adult abilities and needs, this program starts out slowly with basics and builds toward advanced techniques at the student's own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Karate training fits well with other exercise programs and enhances mental and physical performance at work, school or in other daily life activities. This is a fully-ranked program so students may work toward a black belt. For ages 13 and up. Wednesday nights, 7:30 pm-8:30 pm. $22 Member, $44 Program Member per 5- week session.
