No backing out – We all have the greatest intentions of going to the gym, it’s just that the hard part is actually getting there. We all know the feeling- we get home after a long day of work, put on our comfy pants, hop on the couch and end up binge watching This Is Us for 3 hours. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us! The good thing is that there’s always tomorrow. And there’s always other people in the same boat as you. When you plan on working out at the gym with a friend, you’re not just accountable for yourself anymore. You’re accountable for them too! You both can rely on each other to get to the gym. And the best thing? You can invite a friend to join the Y and earn a free month a membership!
Fun and Variety: Work outs can get boring if you’re doing the same things over and over again. How about swapping work outs with your friends? Maybe you have an awesome leg workout and your friend has a great ab workout. Sometimes its fun just to switch up your routine and try something new. And it’s even better because you have someone right by your side.
Safety in numbers: Working out with a friend or in a group can actually be safer than working out alone. With a partner, you have someone who can help you maintain proper form for each exercise, which naturally reduces the risk of injury. Workout buddies are also built in spotters to ensure you’re exercising safely. Two is always better than one.
So now that 2017 has rolled in, grab a buddy and head to the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. The Y is a great place for you and your partner to get your New Year’s health goals on track.
The YMCA is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. #ForABetterUs #HealthyHeartMonth #ForABetterUs #HealthyLiving
