The four week camp will have a different theme each week, and will run from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Microsoft Store, which opened April 13.
Weekly themes will be as follows:
July 8 — Digital Art Smarts;
July 15 — StoryTeller Studio;
July 22 — Digital Movie Madness;
July 29 — Game Masters.
Cost per participant is $20 per week, which includes lunch and transportation.
Downtown YMCA Branch Director Laura Floyd said she has high hopes for the new camp that extend beyond this summer.
“I hope that the children who participate will, as a result of the camp, walk away with a greater appreciation of technology. This (camp) will open up their eyes to a whole new aspect of technology. It’s definitely going to be fun,” Floyd said.
Each participant will receive a Microsoft as well as a YMCA t-shirt.
“Microsoft, like the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, is committed to giving back to the community,” said Floyd. “We also want to introduce the kids to something new and different.”
